Election Day

Every four years in our US presidential elections are held. Today is election day, and before the sun sets on our most western states the votes will start being counted. If the results of the election dictate a shift in power from one party to another then the country will begin the process of peacefully transitioning the executive power in the country. That it occurs peacefully, without much fanfare – other than several parties in Washington D.C. – and without incidents of violence not only speaks volumes for the country, but in comparison to some parts of the world is quite remarkable.

Make sure they bury me in Texas so I can remain politically active. — Jack Valenti
